About Clear Touch

My name is Jane Ann Carvalho and I am the founder and owner of Clear Touch. I graduated from Helma Institute of Massage Therapy and am certified as a Massage Therapist by The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

I have over 15 years of experience as a massage therapist and have extensive training in a variety of massage modalities and techniques. I am certified in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Infant Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Stone Therapy and Reiki.

For me, massage therapy is more than manipulating tissue. I believe that the greatest benefit of massage therapy is self-awareness, and that self-awareness is a powerful tool for any self-care, health and fitness program.

Under the tutelage of Ute Arnold, the founder, director, and teacher of Unergi School, I have learned the importance of the Listening touch. I utilize a holistic approach to bodywork and integrate methods based on the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method with the Listening Touch. I customize each treatment in response to the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.

The AMTA Code of Ethics is central to the trust my clients place in me. Thus, I respect each client's privacy, boundaries and modesty by consistently using proper draping techniques as well as by adhering completely to the AMTA confidentiality rules.

Listening Touch: intentional, safe and healing touch facilitated by the Alexander Technique.
The Alexander Technique is a method that works to change (movement) habits in our everyday activities. It is a simple and practical method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination. The technique teaches the use of the appropriate amount of effort for a particular activity, giving you more energy for all your activities.
The Feldenkrais Method is a form of somatic education that uses gentle movement and directed attention to improve movement and enhance human functioning. Through this Method, you can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. These improvements will often generalize to enhance functioning in other aspects of your life.
